Pros: Bought these to replace velcro imobilizers for our lakefront facility. Takes a bit of practice to get use to them since we had only used the foam velcro before. But now I prefer these over the other types any day. Great for an outdoor facility cause you don't have to worry about sand, grass, etc. getting in the velcro and messing it up. Also, once they're on, they're on - you don't have to worry about them floating up. Very secure head hold.
Cons: Wouldn't say it's a con, but I would hold an inservice when you first get them so guards can get use to them.

Laerdal Speedblocks Head Immobilizer
Pros: The City of Tallahassee Aquatics Unit has made the switch from the "pop-on" head immobilizers to these "speed block" immobilizers. We are very pleased with their performance and the stabilization they provide.
Cons: Not really a con, but staff has trained for years with the pop-on immobilizers, so this change was met with some resistance, however, we spent an entire in-service to get staff comfortable with the new system. They are slowly coming around and agree that the speed blocks do a better job of immobilizing the head.
