The American Heart Association has updated the Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care, effective October 2010. Key changes include:
Start with compressions first, then administer the 2 breaths (C-A-B instead of A-B-C). “Look, Listen, and Feel” for breathing has been eliminated; the rescuer now briefly checks for breathing when initially checking for responsiveness.
Instead of adult compressions 1 ½“- 2” deep, they should now be at least 2” deep.
